Things to do in Greece
As one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, attracting over 12 million visitors each year, there are many things to do in Greece.
Famous for its hot climate, clear waters and sun drenched resorts, the beautiful islands make for the perfect beach holiday. There is of course much more to the country than beaches, with the Greek capital of Athens being at the heart of Ancient Greece. Take a guided tour across UNESCO sites such as the Acropolis, which includes the ruins of the Theatre of Dionysus, along with the impressive Parthenon and Erechtheion temples.
The Kassandra region is a top spot for walks and hikes. Drive to Sani and take the coastal path to Siviri. This stunning part of Greece takes in sandy beaches and woodland landscapes with breath-taking views. Myth and legend are the bricks and mortar of the Palace of Knossos. Built in the Bronze Age, this complex was a key political centre for the Minoan civilisation. The history of wine in Greece can be traced back 1000’s of years and it is here studies show the earliest evidence of using crushed grapes. In Greek mythology they even have their own God of wine, with Dionysus having “God of the Grape Harvest” among his many titles. With Greece being made up off a number of islands, including Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Kefalonia and Mykonos, the country is split into several wine regions, some of which are the oldest in the world.
Greece is one of the best places in Europe to book a wine tour, with guided tours available in most regions. With a mild year-round climate, Greece offers plenty of things to do, with a vast range of tours, attractions and events to suit all requirements.
