From Stomp to Sip! Vineyard and Harvest Experience
Get stuck in with this hands-on experience, taking part in the grape harvest at one of Crete’s popular vineyards. Help pick the grapes and roll your trousers up as you stomp away using traditional methods. You will of course also get a chance to sample the fruits of your labour as you learn more about the local way of life.
Here you will venture into the Crete countryside that more or less remains as it did many centuries ago. Driving along with your English guide you will be taken to secret locations to visit and explore. Then, it is off to receive a very warm welcome at a traditional metoxi farm by the Cretan Shepherd who lives there. He will cook you lunch on an open fire as there is no electricity whatsoever and tell you all about his traditional life style over a special Cretan lunch he has created. All amidst the most serene and awe-inspiring views in the heavenly fresh mountain air!
A visit to Sfakia is a definite ‘must’ – situated within immense White Mountains and deep gorges. This full-day tour includes hiking through the Imbros Gorge, following the steps of the Anzac soldiers. Breakfast is served in a local yoghurt factory. There is a cooking class, with four different wine-tasting options and includes cheese-sampling along with a two-course meal in a charming local winery.
This is a full-on action-packed day adventure. With your English guide you will hike through a stunning gorge, then it is off to embark on a speedboat to take you to the island in the Gulf of Elounda. Here you can visit a Venetian Fortress and explore or swim on the charming island of Spinalong. You will also be taught how to make traditional Greek dolmades and enjoy a gorgeous Greek meze lunch. There is then time to pay a visit to a local olive farm and sample the very best olive oil.
An experience not to be missed is a visit to the fabulous unspoilt flora and beauty spots of the Cretan countryside, with the most breath-taking views across Mirabello Bay. In this seven-hour tour you will follow a traditional tourist trail and visit the region where a series of devastating fires destroyed part of the forest.
